Tap a part of the syllable — its beginning, vowel, ending or tone — and choose from the letters below. Thai writes some vowels before the consonant you say them after, and several change shape once an ending follows; this is the quickest way to see that happen. A beginning can be two letters, so ปลา and ควาย are built here too.

A note on what this tells you
The sound is produced by a speech synthesiser reading the letters, so treat it as a rough guide rather than a model to copy — Khaw is the one to check a pronunciation with. Meanings come from Khaw’s own vocabulary first, and from Wiktionary otherwise. If nothing is found, that only means this dictionary has no entry: plenty of syllables are parts of words rather than words by themselves.
